Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • A pinch of Hing
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Curry leaves
  • 4~5 chopped Garlic cloves
  • 1/2 cup Chana dal
  • 1/4 cup Tur dal
  • 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Goda masala
  • 1 tsp Karlyachi powder
  • Water as needed
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves

Instructions

Step 1: Heat up oil in a cooker and add mustard seeds.

Step 2: When mustard seeds pop up add cumin seeds, hing, turmeric powder, curry leaves and garlic.

Step 3: Mix well and fry until garlic gets light golden color.

Step 4: Add chana dal, tur dal and mix well. Add red chili powder, salt, goda masala, karlyachi powder and mix well.

Step 5: Add water and mix well.

Step 6: Close the lid and cook on medium heat until 2 whistles.

Step 7: Add coriander leaves and pendpala is ready.

Notes

  • You can use kala masala or the one that you use regularly at your home in place of goda masala.
  • You can have it with bhakari. Pendpala, kadhi and Bhakari is the menu.
