Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup grated dry Coconut
  • 1/2” chopped Ginger
  • 7~8 Garlic cloves
  • Coriander leaves
  • 2 chopped Tomatoes
  • 2 big sliced Onions
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 3 tsp Sunday masala
  • 2 tsp Red chili powder
  • 500 gram Mutton
  • Water
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • Garlic cloves
  • Finely chopped Onion
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • 2 tsp Red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • A little Water
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves

Maharashtrian mutton rasssa

Instructions

Step 1: Blend dry coconut, ginger, garlic, coriander leaves, tomato and onion into smooth puree in mixer to make vatan or masala.

Step 2: Heat up oil in a cooker and add blended puree.

Step 3: Fry it well on medium heat for at least 10-12 minutes.

Step 4: When the masala begins to release oil add Sunday masala, red chili powder and fry together for about 2-3 minutes.

Step 5: Take out half of the masala into a dish and keep it aside.

Step 6: Wash mutton really good and add it into the masala.

Step 7: Mix it well with the masala and add water.

Step 8: Add salt and mix well.

Step 9: Close the lid and cook on high heat for 5 minutes.

Step 10: Reduce the heat to medium and steam mutton for about 15-20 minutes. Make sure there is no whistle.

Step 11: Open the lid and take out the mutton pieces into a bowl.

Step 12: The left behind water in the cooker is curry or rassa.

Step 13: For making mutton sukka heat up oil in a pan and add garlic.

Step 14: Fry until garlic gets nice golden color.

Step 15: Add onion and fry until onion turns golden.

Step 16: When onion gets light golden color add garam masala, red chili powder and fry well.

Step 17: Add the masala that we kept aside and mix well.

Step 18: Fry the masala well and salt, water. Mix well.

Step 19: Add cooked mutton and mix well.

Step 20: Cover and cook on low to medium heat for 5-7 minutes.

Step 21: Add coriander leaves and mix well. Mutton sukka is all ready.

Notes

  • Avoid use of water while blending the masala.
  • You can serve it with bhakari or it goes well with rice too.
