Upwas special Arrowroot Papad

You can have arrowroot papad during fast. Araroot is also known as tawkil. You can easily get it in the market. This is a very easy and simple recipe. It is a real quick recipe too. You can store these papad over a year if dried well. You can try this recipe at home.

These papad puff up really good on frying. Generally arrowroot is used as thickening agent. But in Maharashtra, you can have arrowroot during fast too. Ingredients

  • 1 cup Araroot powder
  • 7 cups Water
  • 1/2 tsp Papad khar
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • Chili flakes

Instructions

Step 1: Take araroot powder and add water in it.

Step 2: Mix it well while adding water so that no lumps of araroot will be formed.

Step 3: Add papadkhar, salt and mix everything well together.

Step 4: Turn on the gas and cook well on medium heat stirring continuously until the mixture thickens up really good for about 17-18 minutes.

Step 5: When the mixture thickens up well and it gets glaze turn off the gas and add chili flakes and mix well.

Step 6: Let the mixture cool down a little for about 5-7 minutes.

Step 7: Add a ladleful of mixture on a polythene sheet and spread it a little.

Step 8: Avoid making  thin papad as it will be difficult for you to flip them.

Step 9: You can sundry the papad under hot sun for until these dry completely.

Step 10: When the edges of apapd begin to leave the polythene sheet and middle portion is still wet flip them over and dry well from other side too.

Step 11: Araroot papad are all ready.

Step 12: You can store these papad in an airtight container for a year.

 

Notes

  • You can add finely chopped green chili, ginger, cumin seeds in place of chili flakes.
  • You can dry the papad under fan too.
  • You can make around 50 papad from 1 cup araroot powder.
