Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup roasted Chana dal
  • 1 cup thick Poha
  • 1 cup Rice flour
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp white Sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Ajwain / Carom seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp Red chili powder
  • 2 cups Water
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

Step 1: Take roasted chana dal pohe in a blender jar and blend it into fine powder.

Step 2: Sieve the mixture into a bowl and add rice flour, coriander powder, white sesame seeds, ajwain, salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder.

Step 3: Mix everything well together.

Step 4: Boil water in a pan and turn the gas to low heat.

Step 5: Add the mixture into boiling water and mix in quickly.

Step 6: Turn off the gas and let the mixture cool down a little.

Step 7: Knead the dough well while it is still hot.

Step 8: Take a small portion from the dough and roll it.

Step 9: Transfer the roll into chakli mold and roll chakli on butter paper.

Step 10: Seal both the ends of chakli well so that it won’t open up while frying.

Step 11: Heat up oil on medium heat in a pan.

Step 12: When oil is hot enough turn the heat to low.

Step 13: Drop chakli in hot oil and fry well from both sides.

Step 14: After frying one side for about 5 minutes on heat flip the chakli over and fry well from other side too.

Step 15: When chakli is fried well from both sides take it out, drain excess oil and transfer it into a dish.

Step 16: Poha chakli is all ready.

Step 17: You can store it in an airtight container when it cools down completely.

Notes

  • You can keep this premix ready.
  • You can use small dishes in place of butter paper.
