U.P. special Bundichi Bhaji

Let’s see the UP version of it. In this recipe we won’t fry the boondi but cook it directly into the curry. It is a very easy and simple recipe. Ingredients

  • 1 cup Besan
  • 1 /2 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 finely chopped Green chili
  • 1 tsp Ginger-Garlic paste
  • 1 chopped Onion
  • 1 chopped Tomato
  • 2 tsp Kabita’s masala mix
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • Water as needed
  • Salt to taste
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves

Boondichi bhaji

Instructions

Step 1: Mix besan, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt well together and add a little water at a time to make thick paste.

Step 2: Heat up oil in a pan and cumin seeds.

Step 3: When cumin seeds splutter add green chili, ginger-garlic paste and fry for few seconds.

Step 4: Blend onion and tomato into puree and add that.

Step 5: Mix well and fry everything together.

Step 6: Add Kabita’s masala mix, red chili powder and mix well.

Step 7: Fry well for about a minute and add water.

Step 8: Add salt and mix well.

Step 9: Cover and simmer the gravy on low heat for about 3-4 minutes.

Step 10: Turn the heat on high and drop boondis into the boiling gravy with the help of a frying ladle.

Step 11: Cover and cook it well for about 3-4 minutes until besan is cooked.

Step 12: Add coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 13: Turn off the gas and bundichi bhaji is ready.

 

Notes

  • You can use cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder and turmeric powder in place of Kabita’s masala mix.
  • you can have it with roti or it goes well with rice too.
