Today we are making traditional raghavdas ladoo. I don’t know why these are known by this name. Please do share if you know anything about the it. We already have seen lot many ladoo recipes. This is yet another delicious addition to the list.  It is a very easy and simple recipe. These ladoos look nice and taste simply delicious. This a little forgotten recipe. There are lot many variations in this recipe. But today I will show you how it is made in our home in traditional way. You can try this recipe at home and drop a comment for me.

These ladoo turn out nice and soft and just melt in mouth. The main thing in this recipe is sugar syrup. I will share few tips and tricks to make perfect sugar syrup. This is a simple and a real quick recipe. You can make it in a jiffy. Want to know more? Here we go…

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Chana dal
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • Few Saffron strands
  • 1/4 cup Ghee
  • 1 cup grated fresh Coconut
  • Chopped Dry nuts (Almonds & Cashew nuts)
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
  • Sliced Pistachios

Traditional raghavdas ladoo

Instructions

Step 1: Wash chana dal really good and soak it in enough water for about 4-5 hours.

Step 2: Drain out all the water from the soaked chana dal and blend it well in mixer. 

Step 3: For making sugar syrup mix sugar and water well together and add saffron.

Step 4: Bring the mixture to boil and continue cooking the syrup until it gets single thread consistency.

Step 5: Heat up ghee in a pan and add the blended dal.

Step 6: Mix well and roast the mixture well on low heat until the dal is nicely dry and separated.

Step 7: Add fresh coconut, dry nuts and mix well.

Step 8: Roast it well together for about 5 minutes.

Step 9: Turn off the gas and add the sugar syrup, cardamom powder.

Step 10: Mix everything well together and rest the mixture for about 5-10 minutes.

Step 11: Roll out ladooes from it and garnish with pistachios and dry rose petals. Raghavdas ladoos are ready.

Notes

  • Make sure you don’t use any water at all while blending.
  • Garnishing with rose petals is optional. You can skip it if you don't want.
