Kanda paat is green onion or spring onion and aayte is ghavan or pancake!! Vidarbha cuisine has variety of aayte. These aayte are made when new rice is ready. These are similar to Konkani ghavane. You can make aayet with garlic too. This is a very common recipe in Vidarbh, Khandesh and people love it.

Ingredients

  • 3~4 Green chilies
  • 2~3 Garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp Ajwain / Carom seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 cup Rice flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Finely chopped Kandyachi paat / Spring onion
  • Water as needed
  • Oil

Tandalachya pithache ghavan

Instructions

Step 1: Blend green chilies, garlic, ajwain and cumin seeds into coarse paste in mortar and pestle.

Step 2: Mix rice flour, vatan, salt and kandyachi paat well together and add a little water at a time to make runny batter.

Step 3: Heat up a pan on medium heat and grease it well with oil.

Step 4: Mix the batter well once and add a ladleful batter on the pan.

Step 5: Cover and cook the aatye on medium heat for just about 30-40 seconds.

Step 6: Remove the lid and roast the aayte well from lower side.

Step 7: When lower side is roasted well, flip the aayet over and roast it well from other side too.

Step 8: When other side is roasted well take it off on a wire rack. Kanda paat aayte are ready.

Notes

  • You can blend it in mixer too.
  • You can have it as it is or with chutney.
