Bread gulabjam is an instant and easy recipe. These gulabjam turn out perfectly like the ones those we buy from a mithai shop. They look nice and taste just yumm!! These are dry gulabjam. They get nice coating of sugar and are perfectly dry. It turns out nice, juicy inside but at the same time, dry outside. I am sure all will love it. Gulabjam is a very popular and all time favorite dessert recipe. Khoya balls are fried and then soaked in sugar syrup. There are 2 types of gulabjam, dry and dipped in sugar syrup. Today we are making dry version. These don’t need lot many ingredients. You can make it any time you want as we are not using khoya or mawa. But we are suing bread. It is a very easy and simple recipe. Why don’t you try it?

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • Few Saffron strands
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 6 Bread slices
  • 2 tsp Ghee
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • Oil for frying
  • Sugar for coating

Easy gulabjam

Instructions

Step 1: Heat up a pan on medium heat and add sugar, saffron and water.

Step 2: Mix well and cook until sugar dissolves.

Step 3: When sugar dissolves, cook the mixture for another 3-4 minutes.

Step 4: Turn off the gas and check the consistency of sugar syrup. Take few drops in a dish and check.

Step 5: If the mixture is sticky, then the sugar syrup is ready.

Step 6: Cut off the edges of bread slices and cut it into pieces.

Step 7: Blend the slices into crumbs in mixer and transfer it into a dish.

Step 8: Add ghee and mix well.

Step 9: Add a little milk at a time and knead soft dough.

Step 10: Take small portion from the dough and roll it into cylindrical shape.

Step 12: Heat up oil in a pan and drop gulabjam into it.

Step 13: Fry gulabjam well on low heat until it gets nice golden color from all sides.

Step 14: When gulabjam are fried well, take them out, drain excess oil and transfer them into hot sugar syrup.

Step 15: Roll them well in sugar syrup and let them soak at least an hour.

Step 16: Take the gulabjam out on a tissue paper.

Step 17: Roll the gulabjam well from all sides in sugar so that it sticks to gulabjam well from all sides. Bread gulabjam are ready.

Notes

  • We don’t want single thread consistency syrup. The syrup should be just sticky.
  • Make sure you drop fried hot gulabjam directly into hot sugar syrup.
