Shravan special Gharkutache Vade

Gharkutache vade is a Shravan special recipe. This is a traditional lost recipe. My granny used to make it and offer as naviedya in the month of Shravan. This is a healthy and tasty recipe. We have used different flours in this. These vade turn out nice and crispy. They don’t puff up like but they get layers. You can try this recipe at home and drop a comment for me.

This is a very easy and simple recipe. It is traditional, old forgotten or lost recipe. My granny made it a point to make these vade in the month of Shravan. Then she used to make a garland from it and offer as naivadya to God. In older times people used to make the flour of these vade at home. You also can make it now. But taste these vade first and if you like you can make the flour.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup Rice flour
  • 1/2 cup Jawar flour
  • 1/4 cup Besan
  • Red chili powder
  • Turmeric powder
  • Coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • Water as needed
  • Oil for frying

Gharkutache vade

Instructions

Step 1: Mix rice flour, jawar flour, besan, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt and coriander leaves well together and add oil.

Step 2: Mix everything well together and add a little water at a time to knead semi soft dough.

Step 3: Take a small portion from the dough and make it smooth and even.

Step 4: Roll out vada from it and make a hole at the center.

Step 5: Heat up oil in a pan and drop vada into it.

Step 6: Fry vada well from both sides on medium heat.

Step 7: When vada is fried well from one side, flip it over and fry well from other side too.

Step 8: When vada is fried well from both sides, take it out, drain excess oil and transfer it into a dish. Gharkutache vade are ready.

Notes

  • You can add urad dal flour if you want.
  • You can pat the vade with hand if you want. In that case use wet cloth or banana leaf for making vade.
  • You can have them as it is or with curd or with chutney.
