Ingredients

  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 2~3 Bay leaves
  • 3~4 Black peppercorns
  • 3~4 Cloves
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped Onion
  • 1 tsp Ginger-Garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 250 gm Mutton
  • Water
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp While sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp shredded dry Coconut
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 2 medium-size or 1 cup sliced Onion
  • 7~8 Garlic cloves
  • Chopped Ginger
  • Coriander leaves
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Kanda lasun masala
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • Water
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Heat up oil in a cooker.
  • Add bay leaves, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon stick and fry it a little.
  • Add onion and fry until it turns a little soft.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder and fry for about 2 minutes.
  • Wash the mutton really good and add.
  • Mix well and add water, salt.
  • Mix well and close the lid.
  • Cook on high heat until one whistle first and then lower down the heat to medium.
  • Cook on medium heat until 7-8 whistles.
  • Add cumin seeds, poppy seeds, white sesame seeds, dry coconut in a pan and fry on medium heat until these get a nice golden color.
  • Transfer everything into a blender jar and blend into a powder.
  • In the same pan add oil. Add sliced onion, garlic cloves, ginger, and fry until it gets nice golden color.
  • Transfer all the ingredients into the blender jar in which we have already blended few ingredients into a powder.
  • Add coriander leaves and blend everything into a fine paste using minimum water while blending.
  • Heat up oil in a pan.
  • Add blended masala and mix well.
  • Fry for just about 2 minutes.
  • Add Kanda lasun masala, red chili powder, and mix well.
  • Fry for another 2 minutes.
  • Add cooked mutton along with stock in it and mix well.
  • Add some water, salt and mix well.
  • Add salt carefully as we already have added salt in while cooking mutton.
  • Simmer on medium heat for about 7-8 minutes.
  • Kolhapuri mutton rassa is already.
  • You can have this with hot jawar bhakari.
  • It goes well with chapatti or rice too.
