Shravan Somwar special Thali

Shravan somwar vishesh thali is yet another veg thali recipe. I haven’t used onion or garlic in any of these recipes. So in a way it is righteous food that can be offered as naivedya to the God. It has salad, chutney, dal, dry sabzi, kaap and a sweet dish too. You have to guess the names of the chutney and the sweet dish. You can make this thali on any day other than Shravan Somwar. We already have seen Shravani somwar special thali. This is another delicious and quick addition to the list. This is a very easy and simple recipe. In Marathi month Shravan Lord Shiva is worshiped on every Monday. Many people fast on this day and offer naivedya to the God while ending the fast. Many people don’t have onion or garlic while ending the fast. So in this thali I haven’t used it. Will you like to know more? Here we go…

Some Interesting facts about Shravan Somwar special Thali :-

This is a special veg thali. I haven’t used onion or garlic in this thali recipe. As many people don’t have it while offering the naivedya to the God. Many people fast on every Monday in the Marathi month Shravan. So while ending the fast people offer naivedya to the God and then have that food. This thali looks nice and tastes simply delicious. It is a very easy and simple recipe.

Ingredients

Tikhmithla

  • 6~7 Green chilies
  • 1/4 cup Curd
  • Coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar to taste
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • A pinch of Hing
  • Curry leaves

Dal Palak

  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp grated Ginger
  • A pinch of Hing
  • 2 chopped Green chilies
  • 1 chopped Tomato
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  • 1 cup Tur dal
  • Salt to taste
  • Water to adjust the consistency
  • 2 cups finely chopped Palak

Masala Kaap

  • 1 big Potato
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander powder (Optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Coarse Rava
  • Oil for shallow frying

Pith perun Dhobli Mirchi

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • A pinch of Hing
  • Curry leaves
  • 3~4 chopped Capsicum
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup Besan
  • A pinch of Sugar (Optional)
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves

Gulgule

  • 1 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 cup Gudh powder
  • 2 cup Wheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp Fennel seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Poppy seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • A pinch of Baking soda (Optional)
  • Oil for frying

Veg thali recipe

Instructions

Thkhmithale

Step 1: Remove the stalk of green chilies and roast them directly on gas well like we roast baigan.

Step 2: Blend roasted green chilies, curd, coriander leaves, salt, sugar together into paste in blender. Transfer the paste into a bowl.

Step 3: Heat up oil in a tadka pan and add mustard seeds.

Step 4: When mustard seeds pop up add cumin seeds, hing.

Step 5: Turn off the gas and add curry leaves.

Step 6: Add this tadka into the mixture and mix well. Tikhmithale is all ready.

Dal Palak

Step 7: Heat up oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.

Step 8: When mustard seeds pop up add cumin seeds, ginger, hing, green chilies and mix well.

Step 9: Add tomato and fry on medium heat for about 2-3 minutes.

Step 10: Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala and mix well.

Step 11: Add cooked tur dal, salt, water, palak and mix well.

Step 12: Cook it together on medium heat for about 6-8 minutes. Dal palak is all ready.

Masala Kaap

Step 13: Peel the potato and cut it into slices.

Step 14: Sprinkle red chili powder, coriander powder, salt on the potato slices and toss well.

Step 15: Coat the slices with rava from both sides and keep it aside.

Step 16: Heat up oil on medium heat and transfer the potato slices into the hot oil.

Step 17: When one side is fried well flip it over and fry the slices well from other side too.

Step 18: When the kaap are fried well from both sides, take them out into a dish. Masala kaap are all ready.

Pith perun Dhobli Mirchi

Step 19: Heat up oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.

Step 20: When mustard seeds pop up add cumin seeds, hing, curry leaves, capsicum and mix well.

Step 21: Cover and cook for about 4-5 minutes.

 

Step 22: Add coriander powder, red chili powder, salt and mix well.

Step 23: Roast beasn well on medium heat until it gets light golden color.

Step 24: Add roasted besan into the sabzi, add sugar and mix well.

Step 25: Cover and cook the sabzi on low to medium heat for about 8-10 minutes.

Step 26: Add coriander leaves and mix well. Sabzi is all ready.

Gulgule

Step 27: Take water in a bowl and add gudh.

Step 28: Mix well and let the gudh dissolve into water.

Step 29: Add wheat flour, fennel seeds, poppy seeds, cardamom powder, salt, baking soda and mix well. Batter for gulgule is all ready.

Step 30: Heat up oil in a pan and drop small dough balls into the hot oil.

Step 31: Roast gulgule well from all sides.

Step 32: When gulgule are roasted well take them out, drain excess oil and transfer them into a dish. Gulgule are all ready.

Notes

  • Adding coriander powder in masala kaap is optional. You can skip it if you don’t want.
  • Adding sugar in sabzi is optional. You can skip it if you don’t want.
  • Adding baking soda in gulgule is optional. You can skip it if you don’t want. Instead you can use hot oil or hot ghee.
