Ingredients

  • 1 cup Masoor dal
  • 1 finely chopped Onion
  • 1 finely chopped Tomato
  • Water
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • A pinch of Hing
  • Curry leaves
  • 1 tsp Garlic paste (7~8 grated Garlic cloves)
  • Garam masala
  • Red chili powder
  • Water to adjust the consistency
  • Salt to taste
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves

1 packet Maggie Masala E Magic

Quick masoor dal amti

Instructions

Step 1: Wash masoor dal really good 2-3 times with water and add onion, tomato, water.

Step 2: Cook on medium heat for 15-20 minutes. There should not be any whistle.

Step 3: Beat the cooked dal well.

Step 4:  Heat up oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.

Step 5: When mustard seeds pop up add cumin seeds, hing, curry leaves, garlic paste and fry everything for about a minute.

Step 6: When garlic gets light golden color add garam masala, red chili powder and mix well.

Step 7: Add the cooked dal, water and mix well.

Step 8: Add salt and bring the dal to boil.

Step 9: Simmer amti on medium heat for about 5-6 minutes and add coriander leaves.

Step 10: Add Maggie-masala E Magic and mix well.

Step 11: Cover and simmer amti on medium heat for another 3-4 minutes. Masoor dal amti is all ready.

Notes

  • You can use any other masala or the one that you use regularly in place of garam masala.
  • You can have it with bhakari. It goes well with rice too.
