Ingredients

  • 1 cup Moong dal
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder (Optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Finely chopped Green chili
  • Boiled Corn
  • Finely chopped Capsicum
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • Finely chopped Onion
  • Water to adjust the consistency
  • 1 tsp Eno fruit salt
  • 1~2 tsp Water
  • Oil
  • Butter
  • Few Beetroot julienne

Easy moonglet

 

Instructions

Step 1: Wash moong dal really good 2-3 times and soak it in enough water for about 30 minutes.

Step 2: Drain all the water from dal and transfer it into a blender jar.

Step 3: Blend soaked dal into fine puree and transfer it into a bowl.

Step 4: Add turmeric powder, salt, green chili, corn, capsicum, coriander leaves, onion and mix everything well together.

Step 5: Add water to adjust the consistency and mix well.

Step 6: Add Eno fruit salt, water and mix in quickly.

Step 7: Heat up a pan on medium heat and add oil.

Step 8: Spread the oil evenly on the pan.

Step 9: Mix the batter well once and add it into the pan.

Step 10: Spread the batter evenly.

Step 11: Cover and cook the moonglet on medium heat really good for about 5-6 minutes.

Step 12: Remove the lid and add oil on upper side.

Step 13: Flip the moonglet over and cook well from other side too.

Step 14: When moonglet is cooked well from both sides, cut it into 4 parts. 

Step 15: Place a piece of butter at the center of moonglet, few beetroon juliennes and coriander leaves.

Step 16: Take it off into a dish and moonglet is all ready.

 

Instant moonglet

Notes

  • Adding turmeric powder is optional. You can skip it if you don’t want.
  • If you don’t want to use Eno then ferment the batter overnight and add veggies at the time of making moonglet.
  • You can add 1/4 tsp baking soda in place of Eno fruit salt.
  • You can use butter in place of oil.
  • You can make 8 moonglets from 1 cup moong dal.
  • You can serve it with green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney.
  • You can have it as it is.
