Kheer kanole is an authentic, traditional recipe. We are making wheat kheer in a quick way. Kheer kanole combination tastes just awesome. This is Nagpanchami special recipe. In Maharashtra on the day of Nagpanchami people follow traditions like no cutting, no roasting or skillet is not used. Different recipes like this are prepared. This recipe is different but can be easily made. You can try this recipe at home.

IN Marathi month Shravan Nagpanchami festival is celebrated in Maharashtra. This is celebrated to thank the snakes who are the helpers of the farmers. On this day the snakes are worshiped and kheer is the main dish for naivedya.

Ingredients

Kheer

  • 1/2 cup Wheat
  • 2 cups Water
  • Milk
  • Chopped Dry nuts (Almonds, Cashew nuts)
  • 1 cup Gudh / Jaggery
  • Cardamom powder
  • Nut meg powder

Kanole

  • 1 1/2 cup Wheat flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • Water
  • Ghee / Oil

Instructions

Kheer

Step 1: Take wheat in a blender jar and pulse it in blender.

Step 2: Break wheat into small pieces. No need to make flour.

Step 3: Transfer the broken gahu into a bowl and add water.

Step 4: Rest the mixture as it is for at least 5-10 minutes.

Step 5: Pour out the upper water and transfer the wheat into cooker.

Step 6: Add water and cook on medium heat until 7-8 whistles.

Step 7: Open the lid and mix well once.

Step 8: Add milk, dry nuts and cook together for about 7-8 minutes.

Step 9: Turn the heat to low and add gudh.

Step 10: Mix well and cook for another 4-5 minutes.

Step 11: Add cardamom powder, nutmeg powder and mix well. Kheer is ready.

Kanole

Step 1: For making kanole, take wheat flour into a dish and salt, ghee.

Step 2: Mix well and add a little water at a time to knead medium consistency dough.

Step 3: Transfer the dough into a bowl and rest it for about 15-20 minutes.

Step 4: Take the dough and knead it once to make smooth and even.

Step 5: Take small portion for the dough and roll it into smooth ball.

Step 6: Roll it into puri and spread ghee or oil on it.

Step 7: Fold it into half and again spread ghee or oil.

Step 8: Fold it into a quarter and transfer the kanola into a dish.

Step 9: Steam the kanole on medium heat for about 12-15 minutes.

Step 10: Turn off the gas and take kanole out.

Step 11: Serve kanole with wheat kheer.

Notes

  • You can use khapali gahu though I am using Lokwan gahu.
  • You can add fresh coconut slices along in kheer with dry nuts and milk if you want.
  • You can use a little ghee or oil if you want while kneading the dough.
  • You can make around 7-8 kanole from the used proportion.
