Ingredients

  • 2 tsp grated dry Coconut
  • 2~3 Garlic cloves
  • Coriander leaves
  • Fresh Kala Ghevda
  • Oil
  • Finely chopped Onion
  • 2 tsp roasted Peanut powder
  • 2 tsp Kanda-lasun masala
  • 2 tsp Red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Hot Water as needed

Instructions

Step 1: For making masala, blend dry coconut, garlic and coriander leaves well together into coarse paste.

Step 2: Avoid use of water while blending. Vatan or masala is ready.

Step 3: Heat up oil in a cooker and add kala ghavda.

Step 4: Fry it well for about 4-5 minutes.

Step 5: When the ghevda begins to pop up or puff up, take it out into a bowl.

Step 6: Add some more oil in cooker and add onion.

Step 7: Fry onion well until it gets nice golden color and add the blended masala.

Step 8: Fry it well together for about 2 minutes and add roasted peanut powder.

Step 9: Mix everything well together and add kanda lasun masala, red chili powder, salt. Mix everything well together.

Step 10: Add the roasted ghevda and mix well.

Step 11: Add hot water and mix well.

Step 12: Close the lid and steam on medium heat for about 10-15 minutes. Kalya ghevdyachi bhaji is ready.

Notes

  • You can soak dry kala ghevda overnight and use it in place of fresh ghevda.
  • You can cook ghevda on medium heat until 2 whistles.
  • You can use kadhai in place of cooker. In that case cook the ghevda on medium heat for about 15-20 minutes.
  • You can have it with bhakri or chapati. It goes well with rice too.
