Matakichi rassa bhaji is a very tasty and delicious recipe. Earlier we have seen matakichi usal. Today we will give it a little twist. We will make this in green masala or using green chili. Ingredients

  • 250 gm sprouted Mataki
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup shredded fresh Coconut
  • 4~5 chopped Garlic cloves
  • 1/2” chopped Ginger
  • 4 chopped Green chilies
  • Coriander leaves
  • 3 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • A pinch of Hing
  • 8~10 Curry leaves
  • 1 finely chopped Onion
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Take 150-175 gm mataki and soak it in water overnight.
  • Next morning drain the excess water and wrap the soaked mataki in a cloth.
  • Keep it covered for sprouting.
  • In winter it takes about 2-3 days for sprouting while in summer it just takes a day.
  • Wash the sprouted mataki really good and transfer it into cooker.
  • Add turmeric powder, salt and mix well.
  • Cook on medium heat until 1 whistle.
  • Take fresh shredded coconut, garlic, ginger, green chilies, coriander leaves and blend it into fine paste.
  • Heat up oil a pan.
  • Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add hing, curry leaves, onion and mix well.
  • Fry until onion gets light golden color.
  • Add coriander powder and mix well.
  • If you want you can add a pinch of turmeric powder.
  • Add blended masala and fry for about just 2 minutes until raw flavour of garlic or ginger goes away. 
  • Add cooked mataki with water in it and mix well.
  • Add salt and mix well.
  • Simmer on medium heat for about 7-8 minutes.
  • Mataki chi rassa baji is already.
  • You can have this with chapatti, bhakari. It also goes well with rice too.
