Ingredients

  • 1 cup Besan
  • 1 cup fresh Coconut
  • 1 cup Ghee
  • 1 cup Dry nuts
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • Dry Rose petals
  • Sliced Pistachios

Instructions

Step 1: Mix sugar, besan, fresh coconut, dry nuts, ghee and milk well together in a pan.

Step 2: Turn on the gas and cook the mixture on medium heat until it comes together like dough.

Step 3: Keep on stirring continuously and cook on medium heat only.

Step 4: After cooking the mixture on medium heat for about 25 minutes, it thickens up well and begins to leave the edges of the pan.

Step 5: For checking, take a little mixture out into a dish and let it cool down.

Step 6: After cooling it completely, if you can roll it into a ball, it doesn’t stick to your fingers, then it means that the mixture is cooked well.

Step 7: Turn off the gas transfer the mixture into a deep dish or tray.

Step 8: Spread it evenly and tap the tray well.

Step 9: Garnish with dry rose petals and pistachios and let it set well for about 5 minutes.

Step 10: When the mixture is still hot, cut it into pieces and 7 cups burfi is ready.

Notes

  • When the burfi cools down completely, you can store it in an air tight container.
  • It has shelf life of about 4-5 days.
  • When the mixture comes together like dough, if you continue cooking further on high heat, until it gets nice perforated texture to make mysore pak.
