This is a very easy and simple recipe. In traditional recipe you have to grate the carrot then roast it in ghee and then add milk. Cook the milk and carrot together until milk thickens up. It was really long process. But today we neither have to grate the carrots nor we are reducing the milk. This halwa gets ready in a jiffy.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg Carrots
  • 1/2 liter full cream Milk
  • 1/2 cup / 125 gm Sugar
  • 1/2 cup / 125 gm grated Khoya
  • 1/2 cup Dry nuts (Almonds & Cashew nuts)
  • Cardamom powder

1 kg Gajar halwa

Instructions

Step 1: Wash the carrots well and peel them.

Step 2: Chop the carrot and transfer into cooker.

Step 3: Add milk and steam carrot on medium heat for 20-25 minutes.

Step 4: Crush the cooked carrots with the help of fork. Or you can mash it with masher.

Step 5: Turn on the gas and bring the mixture to boil.

Step 6: Add sugar, khoya, dry nuts and mix well.

Step 7: Cook together for about 15-20 minutes until the mixture thickens up really good.

Step 8: Add cardamom powder and mix well. Gajar halwa is all ready.

Notes

  • You can serve this halwa to around 6-7 people 1 small katori each
  • You can store this in freeze. You can store it at room temperature for about 2-3 days.
