Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Tur dal
  • 1 bunch Fenugreek leaves
  • 1/2 Tomato chopped
  • Water as needed
  • 1 tsp Besan
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup roasted Peanut powder
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 pinch of Hing
  • 2~3 tsp chopped Garlic
  • 2~3 tsp chopped Green chilies
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

Methichi bhaji

Instructions

Step 1: Wash turdal really good and soak it in enough water for about 30 minutes.

Step 2: Wash methi leaves really good and chop it finely.

Step 3: Take soaked turdal in a pan and add fenugreek leaves, tomato and water.

Step 4: Cook everything well together on medium heat without covering it.

Step 5: When dal and fenugreek leaves are cooked well add besan and mix well.

Step 6: Add salt and mix well.

Step 7: Cook everything well together on medium for about 5 minutes until besan is cooked well.

Step 8: Add roasted peanut powder and mix well.

Step 9: For tadka heat up oil in a tadka pan and add mustard seeds.

Step 10: When mustard seeds pop up add cumin seeds, hing, garlic and fry well until garlic gets nice golden color.

Step 11: When garlic begins to turn golden add green chilies and fry for few seconds.

Step 12: Add turmeric powder and mix well.

Step 13: Add this tadka into bhaji and mix well. Methichi gargati bhaji is ready.

Notes

  • You can decide the quantity of besan depending on the consistency of bhaji you expect.
  • You can serve it bhakri. It goes well with rice too.
