Ingredients

Pakoda

  • 1/2 cup Besan
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tsp Water
  • 1 tsp Ajwain / Carom seeds
  • Finely chopped Onion
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • Oil for frying

Kadhi

  • 1 cup Curd
  • 1/4 cup Besan
  • 1 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 Cloves
  • Cinnamon stick
  • Fenugreek seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • Grated Ginger
  • Chopped Green chili
  • Water as needed
  • Salt to taste

Tadka

    • 1 tsp Ghee
    • 1 tsp Red chili powder
    • 2~3 dry Red chilies

Instructions

Pakoda

Step 1: Mix besan and salt well together and add water to make thick paste.

Step 2: Beat the paste really good for about 3-4 minutes and rest it for about 10 minutes. Battar for pakoda is ready.

Step 3: Add ajwain, onion, coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 4: Heat up oil in a pan and drop small pakoda in it.

Step 5: Fry pakodas well from all sides and take them out in a dish. Pakodas are ready.

Kadhi

Step 6: Mix curd, besan, water, turmeric powder and salt well together. No lumps of besan should be formed.

Step 7: Heat up ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds.

Step 8: When cumin seeds splutter cloves, cinnamon, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, ginger and fry well for about a minute.

Step 9: Add green chili and fry well.

Step 10: Turn off the gas and add the curd mixture, water, salt and mix well.

Step 11: Simmer the kadhi on low heat for about 10 minutes.

Step 12: Drop the hot pakodas into hot kadhi.

Tadka

Step 13: Heat up ghee in a pan and add red chili powder and dry red chilies.

Step 14: Fry well and add this tadka into the kadhi.

Step 15: Mix well and kadhi pakoda is ready.

Kadhi vada

Notes

  • You can add sugar if you want.
  • You can serve kadhi pakoda with your choice of rice. It goes well with roti or chapati too.
