Ingredients

  • 1 cup Wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup Jawar flour
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp Ajwain / Carom seeds
  • 1 tsp crushed Garlic
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 finely chopped Green chili
  • Water
  • Oil
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • A pinch of Hing
  • Curry leaves
  • 2 tsp roasted Peanut powder
  • 1 tsp Sunday masala
  • 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Finely chopped Coriander leavesSuke shengole

Instructions

Step 1: Take wheat flour in a bowl and add jawar flour, turmeric powder, ajwain, garlic, salt, green chili.

Step 2: Mix everything well together and add a little water at a time to knead a little soft dough.

Step 3: Grease the dough with a little oil and grease rolling board with a little oil.

Step 4: Take a small portion from the dough and make a long roll from it by rolling it on the board with your palms.

Step 5: Cut the roll into pieces with the help of knife and take one piece from it.

Step 7: Grease the dish with oil and place kondavale in it.

Step 8: Keep some space between 2 kondavale as they puff up on steaming.

Step 9: Heat up about 1” water at the base of the steamer and place the kondavale in it.

Step 10: Steam kondavale on medium to high heat for about 15 minutes.

Step 11: Turn off the gas and take kondavale out. Let them cool down a little.

Step 12: Heat up oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.

Step 13: When mustard seeds pop up add cumin seeds and let it splutter.

Step 14: Add hing, curry leaves and steamed kondavale.

Step 15: Fry well until kondavale turn nice and crispy for about 4-5 minutes.

Step 16: Add roasted peanut powder, Sunday masala, red chili powder, salt, coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 17: Fry well for about 2-3 minutes.

Step 18: Turn off the gas and suke kondavale are all ready.

Notes

  • You can roll it like shengole or make a loop from the dough.
  • You also can make small balls from the dough.
  • You can have steamed kondavale as it is.
  • You can have kondavale as it is when they fried  until crispy.
  • You can use kala masala in place of Sunday masala.
  • This can be a good breakfast, lunch or dinner option.
