Quick Breakfast Pohe Dhokla

At times we are bored of having the regular besan dhokla or we can’t have it because of some or other reasons. In such cases pohe dhokla is the best option. This is a very easy and simple recipe. Generally dhokla is made from besan or soaked chana dal and rice. But today we are using poha and rava as the main ingredients. Dhokla is a popular breakfast or snack recipe. This can be a good option for kids’ lunch box. This is different form the traditional dhokla.

Ingredients

For Dhokla

  • 1 cup thick Poha
  • 1 cup coarse Rava / Semolina
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup Curd
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 tsp Eno fruit salt
  • 2~3 tsp Water
  • Black Pepper powder
  • Red chili powder

For Tadka

  • 2 tsp Oil
  • Mustard seeds
  • Hing
  • Green chilies
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves

Instant pohe dhokla

Instructions

For Dhokla

Step 1: Blend thick poha into coarse powder in a blender and transfer it into a bowl.

Step 2: Add rava, salt and mix well.

Step 3: Add curd, water and mix well. Add one cup water at a time and mix well.

Step 4: Add eno fruit salt, water and mix in quickly.

Step 5: Grease a tray or dish well with oil and transfer the batter into it.

Step 6: Spread it evenly and tap a little.

Step 7: Sprinkle black pepper powder, red chili powder and transfer the tray into the steamer.

Step 8: Steam dhokla on medium heat for about 15-20 minutes.

Step 9: Turn off the gas and let the dhokla be in the steamer for another 10 minutes.

Step 10: Take the trays out and let the dhokla cool down completely.

Step 11: Cut the dhokla into size and shape you want.

For Tadka

Step 12: For tadka heat up oil in a tadka pan and add mustard seeds.

Step 13: When mustard seeds pop up add hing, green chilies and mix well.

Step 14: Add this tadka on dhokla and garnish with coriander leaves.

 

Easy poha dhokla

Notes

  • You can add curry leaves or white sesame seeds in tadka  if you want.
  • You can serve dhokla as it is or with fried green chili.

Servings

This is a very easy and simple recipe which tastes different from the conventional dhokla. You an serve this dhokla as it is after tempering or with fried green chili or with some chutney.
