Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 tbsp Finely chopped Onion
  • 1 cup Fine Rava / Sooji / Semolina
  • 1/2 cup Yogurt
  • Salt to taste
  • 3/4 cup Water
  • 1 tsp Eno fruit salt
  • 1 tsp Water
  • Oil

Instructions

  • Heat up oil in a tadka pan.
  • Add mustard seeds and let them pop up.
  • Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add onion and mix well. Cook for just about a minute until these turn nice and soft.
  • Keep the tadka pan aside.
  • In a bowl take sooji. Use raw sooji. You don’t need to roast it.
  • If you want you can roast sooji a little.
  • Add yogurt and salt. Mix well.
  • Add water and mix well. Appe batter is already.
  • Add the fried onion and mix well.
  • Cover and rest it for at least 15 minutes.
  • After resting, add Eno fruit salt and water. Mix well.
  • Preheat the appam Patra and add a little oil in each mold. Spread the oil.
  • Add appam batter in each mold.
  • Fill each mold up to 3/4th of its capacity as appam will rise when these are cooked.
  • Cook for about 2-3 minutes and flip appam over.
  • Loosen the edges with the help of a knife and flip over.
  • Cook appam for about 3-4 minutes from the other side too.
  • Take appam out into a dish.
  • Appam is already.
  • Serve appam with chutney.
