If you want to make medu vada then you have to soak the dal, then grind it and beat it well or ferment it. You need to plan it well. But with this method you can make medu vada whenever you want. Ingredients

  • 2 cups thick Poha / Flattened rice
  • 4 tsp Rice flour
  • Finely chopped Onion
  • Finely chopped Capsicum
  • Grated Carrot
  • Finley chopped Coriander leaves
  • Finely chopped green chili
  • Grated Ginger
  • Red chili powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp Chat masala
  • Oil for frying

Crispy Poha vada

 

Instructions

Step 1: Wash pohe really good 2-3 times with water and soak in enough water for about 5 minutes.

Step 2: Drain all the water from soaked poha and mash well with hand.

Step 3: Add rice flour, onion, capsicum, carrot, coriander leaves, green chili, ginger, red chili powder, coriander powder, salt, turmeric powder, chat masala and mix everything well together.

Step 4: Knead it like dough. Add a little water if needed.

Step 5: Take small portion from the dough and roll it like medu vada.

Step 6: Heat up oil on medium heat in a pan and drop vada in hot oil.

Step 7: After frying vade for about 2-3 minutes from one side, flip them over and fry well from other side too.

Step 8: When vade are fried well from both sides take them out, drain excess oil and transfer into a dish.

Step 9: Poha vada is all ready.

Step 10: You can have then as it is or with chutney or sauce.

Notes

  • You can use thin poha in place of thick one.
  • You can add mashed bread in place of rice flour.
  • You can add veggies according to your choice.
  • You can add ginger-green chili-garlic paste too.
  • You can make small vadas or flat vadas or nuggets or bhajis too.
  • You can keep the vade ready and fry when needed.
