Delicious Masala Aloo Paratha

Masala aloo paratha is a delicious variation to your regular aloo paratha. This paratha turns out perfectly like the one that we get on a street side stall. There are few tips to make perfect paratha. I will be giving few tricks so that the stuffing from your paratha won’t come out while rolling or roasting. This paratha will turn nice and crispy. You can try this recipe at home.

We regularly make aloo paratha as a variation to our regular chapati sabzi. Kids just love aloo paratha. We already have seen few paratha recipes like aloo laratha, methi paratha, plain paratha, gobi maratha, mulyacha paratha etc. This aloo paratha will be a chatpatit and delicious addition to your menu. We are adding few more spices to it to make the paratha chatpatit and delicious. This is a very easy ans simple recipe. It can be a good breakfast or tiffin or dinner option.

Ingredients

For Cover:

  • 2 cups Wheat flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Water

For Stuffing:

  • 3~4 boiled and peeled Potatoes
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
  • Finely chopped Green chili (Optional)
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Finely chopped Onion
  • Lemon juice
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves

For Making Paratha:

    • Ghee

 

Instructions

For Cover:

Step 1: Take wheat flour in a bowl and add salt.

Step 2: Add a little water at a time to knead semisoft consistency dough.

Step 3: Grease a little oil on the dough, cover and rest it for about 15-20 minutes.

For Stuffing:

Step 4: For making stuffing grate the boiled potatoes in a bowl and add garam masala, coriander powder, cumin powder, green chili, red chili powder, salt, onion, lemon juice, coriander leaves.

Step 5: Mix everything well together and stuffing is all ready.

Step 6: Make balls from the stuffing of the size you want.

For Making Paratha:

Step 7: Take the dough and knead it well once.

Step 8: Take a small portion and make it smooth and even.

Step 9: Dip the dough ball in dry flour and make a pari like we make for puranpoli or modak. 

Step 10: Fill the stuffing and bring the edges together.

Step 11: Seal it well and sprinkle dry flour on it.

Step 12: You can pat it to roll into paratha or roll it using rolling pin. The paratha should be a little thick.

Step 13: Heat up a pan on medium heat and transfer plain side on the paratha and the side having few cracks upwards.

Step 14: Roast well for about a minute or two from lower side on medium heat.

Step 15: Flip the paratha over and roast well from other side too.

Step 16: Flip over and spread ghee on upper side. You can use oil in place of ghee.

Step 17: Turn the heat to low and flip the paratha over.

Step 18: ghee on upper side and flip over

Step 19: Sprinkle garam masala, red chili powder on the paratha, little ghee again and spread it well.

Step 20: Flip over and sprinkle garam masala, red chili powder, little ghee on the other side if you want and spread it well.

Step 21: Flip the paratha over and roast for about a minute or two.

Step 22: Take the paratha off into a dish and masala aloo paratha is all ready

Step 23: You can serve this paratha with curd or pickle.

Notes

  • Grating potatoes help not to burst the paratha.
  • Adding green chilies is optional. You can skip it if you don’t want.
  • You can roll dough ball if you want. Make sure to keep the central portion a little thick while rolling.
  • You can use different masalas like kanda lasun masala or Sunday masala or grated garlic in place of garam masala.
  • You can make around 7-8 parathas from the used proportion.

Delicious masala aloo paratha can be served as it is or it goes well with curd or pickle or sauce. It looks nice and tastes just awesome. It is good breakfast or lunch box option.
