Govind Ladoo

Govind ladoo is a Janmashtami special forgotten recipe. These are also known as Sudama ladoo. These turn out just nice and perfect. You don’t have to make sugar or gudh syrup. This is very easy and simple recipe. This is a healthy and crunchy, crispy recipe. These are made from pohe that is flattened rice. These ladoos just melt in mouth. You can try this recipe at home.

Some Interesting facts about Govind Ladoo :-

These are very healthy ladoos those can be made from the ingredients easily available in your pantry. Why these are called Govind ladoo I don’t know really. But I think as the main ingredient is Poha or flattened rice, which is Lord Kirshna’s favorite these might have been named as Govind ladoo.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Govind Ghee
  • 2 cups Pohe / Flattened rice
  • 1 cup raw Peanuts
  • 1 tsp Govind Ghee
  • Chopped Dry nuts (Almonds & Cashew nuts)
  • 1/2 cup grated dry Coconut
  • 2 tsp white Sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp Poppy seeds
  • 1 cup Gudh / Jaggery
  • 1 tsp Govind Ghee
  • Cardamom powder
  • Nut meg powder

Instructions

Step 1: Heat up a pan on medium heat and add Govind ghee, pohe.

Step 2: Fry pohe well until moisture is removed and turn nice and crunchy for about 6-7 minutes.

Step 3: Transfer the pohe into a dish and add peanuts in the same pan.

Step 4: Roast peanuts on medium heat really good and transfer into a dish.

Step 5: Add Govind ghee in the same pan and add dry nuts.

Step 6: Fry dry nuts well and add dry coconut, sesame seeds, poppy seeds.

Step 7: Roast everything well together until it gets light golden color. Turn off the gas.

Step 8: Transfer the roasted pohe into a blender jar and blend into powder.

Step 9: Transfer the poha powder into a bowl.

Step 10: In the same blender jar add roasted peanuts, roasted mixture of coconut, dry nuts and blend into coarse powder.

Step 11: Add gudh in the same blender jar and blend everything together.

Step 12:Add Govind ghee and blended mixture, cardamom powder, nutmeg powder into poha powder and mix everything well together.

Step 13: Roll ladoo from the mixture of the size you want and garnish with cashew nut.

Step 14: Govind ladoo are all ready.

Step 15: They have good shelf life of about 1-1 1/2 month in an airtight container.

Notes

Govind Ladoo are very easy to make and yet delicious. These are prepared during Janmasthami and very good treat to Krishna.
