We already have seed 2-3 gulabjam recipes like khava gulabjam, upwas gulabjam, rava gulabjam, bread gulabjam etc. Today we are making gulabjam using wheat flour. This is a real quick recipe and you just can’t guess that these are made from wheat flour. These turn out perfectly like khava gulabjam. Wheat flour gulabjam is a good option for maida gulabjam and is healthy too. You can try this recipe at home.

There are some people who do not prefer maida or wheat flour over maida. This is the beat option for them. You don’t need khawa or mawa for this recipe. These wheat flour gulabjam taste nice and turn out perfectly like khava gulabjam.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup Milk powder
  • A pinch of Salt
  • Cardamom powder
  • 2 pinches of Baking soda
  • 2 tsp Ghee
  • 1/4 cup + 1 tsp Milk
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 3/4 cup Water

Wheat Gulabjam

Instructions

Step 1: Sieve wheat flour, milk powder, salt, cardamom powder, baking soda together in a dish and add ghee.

Step 2: Mix everything well together until the mixture is crumbly.

Step 3: Add a little milk at a time and knead medium consistency dough.

Step 4: Cover and rest the dough for about 5 minutes.

Step 5: For making sugar syrup take sugar in a pan and add water.

Step 6: Heat up the pan and bring the mixture to boil.

Step 7: When sugar is completely dissolved and mixture is boiled well, turn off the gas and keep the sugar syrup aside.

Step 8: For making gulabjam take the dough and knead it once to make smooth and even.

Step 9: Take small portion from the dough and roll gulabjam.

Step 10: For frying the gulabjam heat up oil on low to medium heat.

Step 11: Drop gulabjam in hot oil and fry well on low heat until these get nice reddish color from all sides.

Step 12: When gulabjam get nice, even reddish color from all sides take them out, drain excess oil and transfer into hot syrup.

Step 13: Cook the gulabjam in the syrup for about 3-4 minutes.

Step 14: Turn off the gas and keep the gulabjam covered for about 15-20 minutes so that the syrup will get nicely absorbed into it.

Step 15: Wheat flour gulabjam are all ready.

Notes

  • You can use dalda or vanaspati ghee in place of ghee.
  • You can decide the size of the gulabjam.
  • You can make around 20-22 medium size gulabjam from the mixture.

Servings

These gulabjam turn out nice, soft and just melt in mouth. These taste perfectly like khava gulabjam and are very to make. This can be good option for maida gulabjam.
