Solapur Special Spicy, pungent Amti

Today we are making Solapur special pungent amti. Having this amti in rainy season is just next level satisfaction. It tastes just awesome, pungent, and very easy, simple to make. We already have seen different types of amti like Maharashtrian amti, katachi amti, shevagyachya shenganchi amti, dalitoy etc. Here is another yummy addition to the list.  You can try this recipe at home.

Dal is an integral part of our daily diet. At times we get bored of same dal daily. So try this dal at such times and enjoy. You can have it as it is as soup.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Turdal
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Hing
  • 7~8 crushed Garlic cloves
  • Curry leaves
  • 1 finely chopped Tomato
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Sunday masala
  • Red chili powder
  • 2 tsp shredded dry Coconut
  • Water
  • Salt to taste
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves

Instructions

Step 1: Wash turdal really good 3-4 times and add water.

Step 2: Transfer the dal into cooker and cook on medium heat until 3-4 whistles.

Step 3: Take the dal out and beat it really good. Add water if needed.

Step 4: Heat up oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.

Step 5: When mustard seeds pop up add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Step 6: Add hing, garlic, curry leaves and fry until garlic gets light golden color.

Step 7: Add tomato and mix well.

Step 8: Cover and cook for about 4-5 minutes until tomato is cooked nice and soft.

Step 9: Remove the lid and mix well once.

Step 10: Add turmeric powder, Sunday masala, red chili powder and mix well.

Step 11:Add dry coconut and mix well.

Step 12: Add cooked dal, water to adjust the consistency and mix well.

Step 13: Add salt and mix well.

Step 14: Simmer aamti on medium heat really good.

Step 15: Add coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 16: Solapur aamti is all ready.

 

Notes

  • You can use fresh shredded coconut in place of dry coconut.
  • You can have it as it is as soup or it goes well with rice.
