Ingredients

  • 2 cups Pohe
  • Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • A pinch of Sugar
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • A pinch of Hing
  • Curry leaves
  • Raw Peanuts
  • Green chilies
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves

Instructions

  • Strain the pohe well and wash them well with water for 3-4 times.
  • No need to soak the pohe. Just wash them well.
  • Transfer the pohe into the steamer pot.
  • If you don’t have steamer then you can transfer them into chalani.
  • Add turmeric powder, salt, sugar and mix well carefully.
  • Heat up water at the base of the steamer and put the other pot on it.
  • Close the lid and steam on medium heat for about 7-8 minutes.
  • You can use a big pot or kadhai in place of steamer.
  • After steaming let the pohe be in the steamer for about 3-4 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and mix pohe once.
  • Heat up oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds and let them pop up.
  • Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add hing, curry leaves, peanuts, green chilies and fry until peanuts get nice reddish color.
  • When peanuts get nice reddish color add the tadka on steamed pohe and add finely chopped coriander leaves.
  • Mix everything well carefully.
  • Vafevarache pohe are all ready.
