This is a Krishan Janmashtami special recipe. These all recipes are very easy and simple pohe recipes. One type of poha is sweet, another is sour and third type is having pungent taste. These taste just awesome. In the states like Karnataka or Goa different varieties of pohe are offered as Naivedya to Lord Krishna on the occasion of Janmashtami. Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup thick Pohe

For Godache Pohe

  • 3~4 tbsp soaked Pohe
  • 2 tsp shredded fresh Coconut
  • 2 tsp Sugar
  • Cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • Few Cashew nuts
  • 2 Cloves
  • 1 small Cinnamon stick
  • Few Raisins

For Dahi Pohe

  • 1/4 cup Curd
  • Finely chopped green chili
  • Sugar to taste
  • Rock salt to taste
  • Ginger juice
  • 3~4 tbsp soaked Pohe
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • A pinch of Hing
  • Curry leaves
  • Dry red chilies

For Tikhatache Pohe

  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1/4 tap Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • A pinch of Hing
  • Finely chopped green chili
  • Curry leaves
  • Raw Peanuts
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Boiled, peeled, and chopped Potato
  • Soaked Pohe
  • Salt to taste
  • Pinch of Sugar
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves

Instructions

  • Wash pohe really good 2-3 times with water. Drain all the water from it.
  • Cover and rest pohe for about 5-10 minutes.

For Godache Pohe

  • Take pohe into a dish. Add fresh coconut, sugar, cardamom powder and mix everything well together.
  • Heat up ghee in a tadka pan.
  • Add cashew nuts and fry them a little.
  • When cashew nuts begin to get light color add cloves, cinnamon, raisins and mix well.
  • Fry everything for about a minute and add this tadka on pohe.
  • Mix well and godache pohe are all ready.

For Dahi Pohe

  • Take curd into a bowl.
  • Add green chili, sugar, rock salt, ginger juice and mix everything well together.
  • You can use regular salt in place of rock salt.
  • You can use grated ginger or ginger pieces in place of ginger juice.
  • Add pohe, coriander leaves into the curd and mix everything well together.
  • Heat up oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds and let it pop up.
  • Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add hing, curry leaves, dry red chilies and mix well.
  • Add the tadka on pohe and mix well.
  • Dahi pohe are all ready. Garnish with pomegranate seeds.

Tikhatache Pohe

  • Heat up oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds and let them pop up.
  • Add cumin seeds and let it splutter.
  • Add hing, green chili, curry leaves, raw peanuts and fry until peanuts get light reddish color.
  • Add turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Add boiled potato and mix well.
  • You can skip potato if you don’t want.
  • Add soaked pohe, salt, sugar and mix everything well together.
  • Cover and steam pohe on medium heat for about 6-7 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and mix pohe well once.
  • Add coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Tikhatache pohe are all ready.
