Shraddhache Vade

After Anant Chaturdashi, there come pitrupaksha. Literally it means fort night of our ancestors. We express our gratitude to our ancestors by offering special food to them. Lot many recipes are prepared for this like vade, bhajya. Today we will see the different 4 types of shraddhache vade those are made for piturpaksh vaivedya. I will show you quick method to make easy Shraddhache vade. Lets start.

Vade or “Talan” called in Marathi is a must in Shraddha naivedya. Quick and Easy Shraddhache vade keep on varying from place to place. I have tried to accommodate commonly made vade in today’s recipe.

Some Interesting facts about Shraddhache Vade :-

Shraddhacha naivdya has a few must dishes. Vade or “Talan” is one such recipe. There are lot of variations in the dishes those are included in naivedya and also in the preparation. Here are few recipes those are easy to make and are quick one. You can roll all vade and fry them together one after the other to save the time.

Ingredients

Aluchi Vadi

  • 1 cup Besan
  • 1/4 cup Rice flour
  • 1 tsp Ginger-Green chili paste
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chili powder
  • Water
  • Aluchi pane / Arbi leaves
  • Tamarind-Jaggery pulp
  • Oil for frying

For Patvadi

  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • A pinch of Hing
  • Ginger-Green chili paste
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 cup Water
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup Besan
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • Shredded fresh Coconut

Dal vada

  • 1 cup Chana dal
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • Oil for frying

Urad Dal Vada

    • 1 cup Urad dal
    • Salt to taste
    • Chopped Green chilies
    • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
    • Finely chopped Coriander leaves
    • Oil for frying

Instructions

Aluchi Vadi

Step 1: In a bowl take besan, rice flour, ginger-green chili paste, turmeric powder, salt, red chili powder and mix everything well together.

Step 2:Add a little water at a time to make paste.

Step 3: Wash aluchi pane really good and cut off the stem.

Step 4: Spread the besan paste on the back side of the biggest leaf and spread tamarind-jaggery pulp on it.

Step 5: Place a little smaller leaf on it and repeat the procedure.

Step 6: You can use 4-5 leaves or as many as you want and repeat the procedure.

Step 7: Roll the leaves as tightly as possible.

Step 8: Steam the roll on medium heat for about 15 minutes.

Step 9: Turn off the gas and let the vadi sit in the steamer for another 10 minutes.

Step 10: Take the roll out and let it cool down completely.

Step 11: Cut the roll into pieces.

Step 12: Heat up oil on medium heat and drop vadi into hot oil.

Step 13: Fry vadi really good from both sides and take it out into a dish.

Step 14: Aluchi vadi is all ready.

 

Patvadi

Step 1: Heat up oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.

Step 2: When mustard seeds pop up add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Step 3: Add hing, ginger-green chili paste and fry it a little.

Step 4: Add turmeric powder and mix well.

Step 5: Add water, salt and bring it to boil.

Step 6: When water boils turn the heat to low and add besan.

Step 7: Mix in quickly. No lumps of besan should be formed.

Step 8: Cover and cook on low heat for about 5 minutes.

Step 9: Remove the lid and mix well.

Step 10: Transfer the mixture into a dish and spread evenly. You can decide the thickness of patvadi.

Step 11: Sprinkle coriander leaves, fresh coconut and press it.

Step 12: Let it cool down completely.

Step 13: Cut the vadi into any shape and size you want.

Step 14: Patvadi is all ready.

 

Dal Vada

Step 1: Wash chana dal really good and soak it in enough water for about 6 hours.

Step 2: Drain all the water from soaked chana dal and transfer into a blender jar.

Step 3: Blend it into coarse paste without using any water.

Step 4: Transfer the paste into a bowl and add salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, curry leaves, coriander leaves.

Step 5: Mix everything well together.

Step 6: Take small portion from the batter and roll vada.

Step 7: Make a hole at the center with the help of wet finger.

Step 8: Heat up oil in a pan on medium heat.

Step 9: Drop vada in hot oil and fry well from both sides.

Step 10: When vada is fried well from both sides take them out into a dish.

Step 11: Dal vada is all ready.

 

Urad Dal Vada

Step 1: Wash urad dal really good and soak it in enough water for about 4 hours.

Step 2: Drain all the water from soaked dal and transfer into a blender jar.

Step 3: Blend into smooth paste without using any water at all.

Step 4: Transfer the batter into a bowl and add salt.

Step 5: Beat the batter really good until light and fluffy for about 4-5 minutes.

Step 6: Add green chilies, cumin seeds, coriander leaves and mix everything well together.

Step 7: Wet your hand with water and roll vade from the batter of the size and shape you want.

Step 8: Make a hole at the center with the help of wet finger.

Step 9: Heat up oil on medium heat in a pan and drop vada into it.

Step 10: Fry vade really good from both sides on high heat and take them out into a dish.

Step 11: Urad dal vada is all ready.

Notes

  • You can cut off the veins of aluchi pane if you want.
  • You can tamarind-jaggery pulp if you want.
  • In dal vada you can skip the step of making hole to the vada.
  • While blending urad dal add about 1-2 tsp water if needed
