Gawar fry is a very easy and simple recipe. We already have seen few gawar recipes like gawar masala or gawar masala with green chili. This recipe can be a good lunch box option. Ingredients

  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 7~8 Garlic cloves
  • Curry leaves
  • Finely chopped Onion
  • Gawar
  • 1 tsp Kala masala
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2~3 tsp roasted Peanut powder
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves

Instructions

  • Heat up oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds and let them pop up.
  • Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add garlic, curry leaves, onion and mix well.
  • Fry onion a little until it becomes soft.
  • Add gawar and mix well. ‘
  • Cover and cook for about 3-4 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and mix well again.
  • Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes more.
  • Repeat this process until gawar is nicely cooked for about 15 minutes.
  • Add kala masala, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and mix well.
  • You can use goda masala or kala masala any one available with you.
  • Add roasted peanut powder and mix well.
  • Cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  • Add coriander leaves and mix well.  
  • Gawar fry is all ready.
  • This can be a good lunch box option.
  • It goes well as side dish with dal rice or amti bhat
