Ninav is a traditional recipe. This dish is prepared a day before Haritalika i.e. on Pithori Amavasya. The literal meaning of ninav is the one that has no name. This tastes nice and you can try a different recipe. Try this recipe and drop a comment for me. Do not forget to like, share and comment.

  • 1/2 cup Gudh / Jaggery
  • 4 tsp Ghee
  • 1 cup Besan
  • 1/2 cup Wheat flour
  • A pinch of Salt
  • Assorted Dry fruits
  • Cardamom powder
  • Salt
  • Almond slices (Optional)

Instructions

  • Take coconut milk in a bowl.
  • Add gudh and mix well. Dissolve the gudh into coconut milk.
  • Try to use grated gudh so that it will dissolve quickly.
  • Heat up ghee in a pan.
  • Add besan, wheat flour and mix well.
  • Roast on medium heat really good until it gets nice, kharpus color.
  • When the mixture gets uniform golden color, turn the heat to low and add salt.
  • Mix well and add coconut milk.
  • Add dry fruits, cardamom powder and mix well.
  • Cook until it comes together nicely.
  • When the mixture comes together nicely, turn off the gas.
  • Take cooker and add a thin layer of salt at its base.
  • Remove the whistle and rubber ring of the cooker lid.
  • Close the lid and preheat the cooker on high heat for 5 minutes.
  • Transfer the mixture into a baking tray that is greased well with ghee and spread it evenly.
  • Spread almond slices and press them a little.
  • This is optional. You can skip it.
  • Place an empty pot at the base of the preheated cooker and put a dish on it.
  • Place the pot with mixture of ninav on it and close the lid.
  • Bake on medium heat for about 25-30 minutes.
  • Insert a toothpick or knife in ninav.
  • If it comes out clean, it means ninav is baked well. Another indication is the edges are loosened.
  • Cut the ninav into pieces and take the pieces out.
  • Ninav is all ready.
