Ingredients

  • 250 gm Paneer
  • 1/4 cup Maida / All purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup Corn flour
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper powder
  • Diced Ginger
  • Finely chopped Garlic
  • 1 tsp Ginger-Garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp Tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Chili sauce
  • Onion chopped into big pieces
  • Green pepper chopped into big pieces
  • 1 tsp Soya sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • Dried red chilies
  • Chopped Spring onion for garnishing

Instructions

  • Wash and chop paneer into big square pieces.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste, black pepper powder, a little soya sauce.
  • Mix everything well together.
  • When the paneer is coated well with spices keep it aside for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Take 1 tsp corn flour into a bowl.
  • Add 2 tsp water and mix well to make slurry.
  • Add about 1-2 tsp maida in marinated paneer and mix well so that it well get coating of maida.
  • This helps in keeping the coating of spices intact while deep frying paneer.
  • Take remaining corn flour & maida into a bowl.
  • Add salt, water and mix well to make batter.
  • The batter should be nice and thick. No lumps of any flour should be formed.
  • Drop the paneer cubes into the batter and coat them well with batter.
  • Heat up oil on medium heat.
  • Drop the paneer cubes into hot oil. You can shallow fry paneer if you want.
  • Fry paneer until it turns deep golden from all sides.
  • Turn off the gas and take paneer out into a dish.
  • Heat up 1 tbsp oil in a pan.
  • When the oil is smoky hot, break and add in dry red chilies in it.
  • You can use fresh green chilies in place of dry red chilies.
  • Add garlic, ginger and fry for just about 30 seconds.
  • Add onion, green pepper and mix well.
  • Fry on high heat for just about a minute so that veggies retain their crunch.
  • Add tomato sauce, soya sauce, chili sauce and mix well.
  • Add black pepper powder, salt and mix well.
  • Add salt carefully as sauces contain salt.
  • Stir the corn flour slurry once and add it into the pan.
  • Add a little water and mix well.
  • Adding corn slurry gives saucy consistency to this dish.
  • Add fried paneer and mix well quickly.
  • Paneer should be well coated with the sauce.
  • Chili paneer is already.
  • Garnish with spring onion.
