Sandge is a traditional Maharashtrian recipe. We already have seen traditional sandge recipe using mix pulses. But today we will see sandge made from rice. This is a very easy and simple recipe. Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked Rice
  • Garlic-green chili paste (8~10 Garlic cloves & 4~5 Green chilies)
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • A pinch of Baking soda
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves

Instructions

  • Take rice into a dish. You can use leftover rice too.
  • Make sure that the rice is a little sticky.
  • Do not use dry rice. Try to avoid using kolam rice.
  • Try to use Indrayani or Basamati rice.
  • Add garlic-green chili paste, cumin seeds, salt, baking soda, coriander leaves and mix everything well together.
  • Knead it like dough for about 7-8 minutes.
  • Make sandge from the mixture into a plate as we make regular sandge.
  • You can make sandge in any shape you want.
  • Do not make much small sandge as these reduce in size on drying.
  • Sundry the sandge for at least 2-3 days.
  • All the moisture from the sandge must be removed and these must be completely dry.
  • You can store these sandge on drying into an air tight container.
