So far we have tried different types of puri like puri, tikhat puri, palak puri, tomato puri etc. Rava masala puri is a very easy and simple recipe and remain crispy for weeks. This can be a good travelling or tea time snack. These taste just awesome and don’t turn out oily. You can try this recipe at home.

Kids love puri. Rava masala puri is such a simple recipe that you can make easily with the ingredients those are easily available in your pantry. This puri doesn’t need too many fancy ingredients. As these puris have good shelf life, these can be a perfect travelling snack option.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup fine Rava / Sooji
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 3~4 Garlic cloves
  • Green chilies
  • Coriander leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • Oil for frying

 

Instructions

Step 1: Take rava, oil in a blender jar and blend it well.

Step 2: Add garlic, green chilies and blend it together again.

Step 3: Add coriander leaves and blend well.

Step 4: Transfer the mixture into a dish and add red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, salt.

Step 5: Mix everything well together and add a little water to knead a little soft dough.

Step 6: Cover and rest the dough for about 30 minutes.

Step 7: Take the dough and divide it into 3 equal portions.

Step 8: Take one portion and make it smooth and even.

Step 9: Roll it into a chapatti and cut small puris with the help of a small katori or lid.

Step 10: Take the puris and keep them aside.

Step 11: Heat up oil in a pan. 

Step 12: Drop puri in hot oil and press it gently.

Step 13: Fry well on low heat until lower side gets light brown color.

Step 14: Flip the puri over and fry well from other side too.

Step 15: When puri is fried well from both sides, take it out, drain excess oil and transfer into a dish.

Step 16: Rava masala puri is all ready.

Step 17: You can have these as it is or with chutney or sauce.

Notes

  • You can add a little rava if you feel the dough a little soft.
  • You can store these puris in an airtight container for about a month.
