Namkeen Suji Chivada

Namkeen suji chivada, as the name suggests this is made using rava or suji and turns out crispy. It perfectly looks like Navaratan mix or Haldiram chivada. It turns out nice, crispy and crunchy. No one will come to know that this is made using rava. If you are bored of having the same poha chivada then this is the best option for you. It looks nice and tastes just awesome. You can try this recipe at home.

With Diwali round the corner you must be looking for different faral recipes. So here is one more addition to the list, suji chivada. We already have seen different types of chivada, shankarpali, ladoo, chakali, chirote, karanji etc. It looks nice perfectly like Haldiram namkeen mixture and tastes just awesome. This chivada is a little different form regular chivada. Try this recipe for this Diwali or you can try it on any other day too.

This is a very easy recipe. This is different from your regular chivada and tastes just awesome. It perfectly looks like the Haldiram special namkeen mix. It turns out nice, crispy and crunchy. It has a good shelf life.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 tsp Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup fine Rava / Suji
  • 1 cup Rice flour
  • Oil for frying
  • Peanuts
  • Cashew nuts
  • Curry leaves
  • Raisins
  • Black salt
  • 1 tbsp powdered Sugar

Namkeen Rava chivada

Instructions

Step 1: Heat up water in a pan and add oil, salt.

Step 2: When water is hot enough add a little rava at a time and mix well.

Step 3: No need to bring the water to boil.

Step 4: No lumps of rava should be formed. 

Step 6: Mix well and cook until it comes together like dough.

Step 7: When all the water is absorbed, turn off the gas immediately and let the mixture cool down a little.

Step 8: Add rice flour and mix well quickly.

Step 9: When the mixture cools down further knead the dough.

Step 10: No need to add any additional water.

Step 11: Divide the dough into 2 portions and take one of them.

Step 12:Roll it into cylinder and transfer it into chakali sacha which is fitted with thick shev plate.

Step 13:Heat up oil in a pan on low to medium heat and roll shev directly into hot oil.

Step 14:After frying shev on low to medium heat for about 3-4 minutes flip over and fry well from other side too.

Step 15: When shev is fried well from other side too take it out, drain excess oil and transfer into a dish.

Step 16: In the same oil add peanuts and fry well.

Step 17: When peanuts are fried well take them out on the fried shev.

Step 18: Add cashew nuts in the same oil along with curry leaves, raisins and fry well.

Step 19: Drain excess oil and transfer everything on the fried shev.

Step 20: Add green chillies in the same oil and fry well.

Step 21: Drain the excess oil from fried chilies and transfer on fried shev.

Step 22: Break fried shev and mix well. Crush fried chillies a little while mixing.

Step 23: Sprinkle black salt, powdered sugar and mix everything well together.

Step 24: Suji namkeen chivada is all ready. 

 

Notes

  • You can use 1 tsp butter in place of oil.
  • Avoid using roasted rava.
  • You can blend coarse rava in mixer and use it in place of fine rava.
  • You can use food processor for kneading dough.
  • You can grease the sacha with oil if you want.
  • You can store this in an airtight container when it cools down completely.

This chivada tastes nice and turns out crispy, crunchy. You can store this in an airtight container and has a good shelf life. It looks like Haldiram namkeen mixture and is very easy to make.
