Fried Modak

With Ganapati festival round the corner modak recipe is must. We already have seen few modak recipes like 2-3 types of ukadiche modak, panchakhadya modak, fried modak, chocolate modak etc. Today we are making talaniche modak on of the popular naivedya recipe. These are made using wheat flour and turn out nice and crispy. These can be good option for ukadicke modak. These taste just awesome and are easy to make. You can try this recipe at home.

These Fried modak can be a good option for ukadiche modak. For those who don’t have time and can’t make ukadiche modak these can be made easily. Fried modak turn out nice, crispy and yummy. You can offer these madak as naivedya to your bappa.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Wheat flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Water
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • Chopped Dry nuts (Almonds & Cashew nuts)
  • 2 cups grated fresh Coconut
  • 5~6 tsp Royal treasure’s coconut Jaggery
  • Cardamom powder
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

Step 1: Take wheat flour, salt and add a little water at a time to knead medium consistency dough.

Step 2: Cover and rest the dough for about 15-20 minutes.

Step 3: For making stuffing heat up a pan on medium heat and add ghee, dry nuts.

Step 4: Fry the nuts for about a minute.

Step 5: Add fresh coconut and fry on low heat for about 3-4 minutes.

Step 6: Add Royal treasure’s coconut jaggery and mix well.

Step 7: Fry everything well together for about 5-6 minutes.

Step 8: Turn off the gas and add cardamom powder.

Step 9: Mix well and stuffing is ready. Let it cool down completely.

Step 10: Take the dough and knead it once to make smooth and even.

Step 11: Take out small portion of the dough and make it smooth and even.

Step 12: Roll the ball into puri and cut a perfect round with the help of a katori.

Step 13: Take the puri in hand and make petals like we make for ukadiche modak.

Step 14: Fill the stuffing in it and press it a little.

Step 15: Bring the petals together and close the modak up.

Step 16: Heat up oil on high heat in a pan and turn the heat to low to medium once the oil is hot enough.

Step 17: Drop modak in oil and fry well on low to medium heat from all sides.

Step 18: When modak get nice golden color from all sides take them out, drain excess oil and transfer into a dish.

Step 19: Talaniche modak are all ready.

Step 20: You can make 11 modak from the proportion we used.

Notes

  • Fried modak made from wheat flour can be offered to Ganapati. We are not using gudh or sugar or dated for this recipe.

Servings

We are not using gudh or sugar or khajur in this recipe. Also we are making this recipe using whole wheat flour and not maida. These modak taste fantastic and are easy to make.
