Ingredients

  • 2 tsp grated dry Coconut
  • 7~8 Garlic cloves
  • 1” chopped Ginger
  • Coriander leaves
  • Oil
  • 1 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp Chana dal
  • 2 tsp Bajri / Pearl millet
  • Green chilies
  • 1 small sliced Onion
  • Oil
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Water
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Take dry coconut in a blender jar.
  • Add garlic cloves, ginger, coriander leaves and blend it into a little coarse paste.
  • Transfer it into a bowl.
  • Heat up oil in a pan.
  • Add coriander seeds and fry them well.
  • Take coriander seeds out into the blender jar.
  • In the same pan add chana dal and fry it really good until it gets light golden color.
  • Transfer the roasted chana dal into a blender jar.
  • In the same pan add bajari and fry it well.
  • When bajri changes its color a little transfer it into the blender jar.
  • In the same pan add green chilies and onion. You can skip onion if you don’t like.
  • Fry well until onion changes color.
  • Transfer fried onion and green chilies into the blender jar and blend everything into paste.
  • Blend dry first and then add water. Blend everything into smooth paste.
  • Heat up oil in a pan.
  • Add coconut, garlic, ginger, coriander leaves paste and fry for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Add turmeric powder and fry for about 2 minutes.
  • Add the blended paste, water, salt and mix well.
  • Add water more as we are using dal, bajri.
  • The amti will thicken up as time passes. So add a little more water.
  • Simmer on medium heat for about 8-10 minutes.
  • Shingori amti is all ready.
  • You can have it as it is as soup.
  • You also can have it with rice, chapatti if you want.
  • This is a perfect weight loss recipe.
