Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • 2 Green cardamom
  • 3~4 Cloves
  • 1~2 Black peppercorns
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • Water
  • 1/4 cup roasted Peanut powder
  • 1/4 cup shredded fresh Coconut
  • 1/2 cup Sweet potato chopped into small pieces
  • Water
  • Salt to taste
  • Upwasacha chivada
  • Upwasachi shev
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves

Instructions

  • Heat up ghee in a pan.
  • Add cumin seeds and let it splutter.
  • Add cinnamon sticks, green cardamom, cloves, black peppercorns and mix well.
  • Add red chili powder and mix well.
  • Keep the gas on low heat while adding red chili powder or that will burn.
  • Add water and mix well.
  • Add roasted peanut powder, fresh shredded coconut and mix well.
  • You can use dry coconut in place of fresh coconut.

  • Add sweet potato and mix well.
  • Add water, salt and mix well.
  • You can add potato in place of sweet potato.
  • Cook until sweet potato is cooked well. 
  • Upwasachya misalicha rassa or kat is all ready.
  • While serving at the base of serving dish add a layer of sweet potato.
  • Add a layer of upwasacha chivada and finish with misalicha kat.
  • Garnish with upwasachi shev.
  • You can add fresh coconut, coriander leaves for garnishing.
  • You can have upwasachi misal as it is.
  • It goes well with shingadyachi puri, ragjiryacha paratha, rahjiryache thalipeeth.
