Beet Tomato Masala Puri

Tomato puri is a very easy and simple recipe.  This can be a good option for any time snack for kids or tea time snack. We already have seen different types of puri like regular puri, palak puri, tikhat puri, pakatali puri etc. But this tomato puri tastes just awesome and turns out nice, crispy. I will tell you some tips and tricks to retain that bright red color of tomato. You can try this recipe at home.

Beet adds nice color to the puri and helps to reduce the sourness of tomato. You can have this puri as it is or with soem chutney or sauce. This is a perfect tea time snack. This can be a good option for kids’ any time snack.

Ingredients

  • Coriander leaves
  • 4 chopped Tomatoes
  • 4~5 tsp grated Beetroot
  • Green chili
  • 7~8 Garlic cloves
  • 3 cups Wheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

875Step 1: Take coriander leaves, tomatoes, beetroot, green chili, garlic in a blender jar and blend into puree.

Step 2: Tomato puree for making tomato puri is ready.

Step 3: Take wheat flour in a bowl and add red chili powder, coriander powder, salt, coriander leaves.

Step 4: Mix everything well together and knead stiff dough using tomato puree.

Step 5: Cover and rest the dough for about 15-20 minutes.

Step 6: Take the dough and knead it once to make smooth and even.

Step 7: Take a small portion from the dough and make it smooth and even.

Step 8: Roll it into a big chapatti and cut small puri form it using a katori or lid.

Step 9: Heat up oil on medium heat in a pan.

Step 10: Drop puri in hot oil and press a little.

Step 11: When puri puffs up well and is fried well from other side, flip it over.

Step 12: When the mixture comes together like dough turn off the gas and let it cool down a little.

Step 13: Fry the puri well from other side too.

Step 14: When puri is fried well from both sides take it out, drain excess oil and transfer into a dish.

Step 15: Tomato puri is all ready.

Step 16: You can have this puri as it is.

Notes

  • You can make around 25-30 puris from the dough.
  • These puris have shelf life of about 3-4 days.
