Ratale is also known as Yam or sweet potato. Generally it is eaten during fasting. Different fasting recipes are made like ratakyacha kis, tikhat kaap or god kaap, ratalyachi upawasachi bhaji etc. You can have these on non fasting days too. Let’s learn to make ratalyache god kaap.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 1 cup thin slices of Ratale (Sweet potato)
  • 1 tsp Cashew nuts
  • 2 tsp grated fresh Coconut
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • Cardamom powder

Instructions

  • Heat up ghee in a pan.
  • Wash ratale really good and make thin slices of it. You can chop it into small pieces too.
  • Add these slices in ghee. Add cashew nuts.
  • You can use dry fruits of your choice like almonds, raisins etc.
  • Add grated fresh coconut. Mix well.
  • Cover and cook on medium heat for 3-4 minutes.
  • Ratale gets cooked quickly. After 5 minutes, remove the lid and add sugar. You can use powdered sugar too.
  • You can increase or decrease sugar according to your taste. Just keep in mind that ratale is little sweet.
  • Add cardamom powder and cook for about 4-5 minutes until sugar melts.
  • If you think sugar is not melting, the sprinkle 2-3 tsp water.
  • After 5 minutes turn off the gas and ratalyache kaap are already.
