Chakali is all time favorite snack. There are different types of chakali like rice flour chakali, bhajani chi chakali, wheat flour chakali, jawar flour chakali. Diwali is incomplete without these irresistible, delectable chakali. Generally chakali are available throughout the year. Today we are preparing rice flour chakali.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rice flour
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp Awjain / Carom seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Sesame seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1 cup Water
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • In a bowl, take rice flour. Add coriander powder, red chili powder, salt, ajwain, sesame seeds and turmeric powder.
  • Mix everything well together. Add oil and mix well again.
  • Add hot boiling water and stir well. Cover and give it a standing time of just 5 minutes.
  • After 5 minutes, pour out the mixture into a dish. Knead the mixture into pliable dough.
  • If you think the dough is a bit stiff add few tablespoon of water.
  • Once the dough is ready, cover and allow it to sit for 30 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into small cylindrical shape.
  • Take chakali mold. Put chakali disk in it. Stuff the mold with the dough and press well.
  • Roll out chakalis with the help of mold. Seal both inner and outer edges well.
  • Use wax paper for chakali. When we lift the chakali to put into hot oil, it becomes easier due to wax paper.
  • Heat oil in a pan. When oil is enough hot drop the chakali into it.
  • Fry until it gets deep golden color. Fry the chakali on medium high heat.
  • After about 3-4 minutes, flip over the chakali and fry from another side.
  • When chakali gets deep golden color from both sides remove from hot oil.
  • Drain excess oil and put them on tissue paper.
  • Instant chakali is already.
