Ingredients

  • Thick poha
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tap Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Hing
  • Finely chopped Green chili
  • Garlic cloves (Optional)
  • Raw Peanuts
  • Cashew nuts
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp Rock salt
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Take pohe in a pan and roast them well on medium heat until these become nice & crunchy for about 7-8 minutes.
  • You can dry pohe under hot sun for 2 days. Then in that case you don’t need to roast the pohe.
  • You can roast pohe in microwave too.
  • Transfer the roasted pohe into a bowl.
  • Heat up oil on low to medium heat in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds and let them pop up.
  • Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add hing, curry leaves, green chilies, garlic and fry for just about a minute.
  • You can skip garlic if you don’t want. It is optional.
  • Add peanuts and fry well.
  • When peanuts and garlic begin to change their color, add cashew nuts and fry until these change color.
  • When cashew nuts begin to turn light golden lower the heat to low and add turmeric powder.
  • Mix well and add roasted pohe.
  • Mix well and turn off the gas.
  • Add rock salt, salt, powdered sugar and mix well.
  • Jaad pohe chivada is all ready.
  • Store it in air tight container. It has a shelf life of about 2-3 weeks.
