Ingredients

  • 250 gm Chicken
  • 1 tsp Ginger-Garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 4~5 Black peppercorns
  • 1 Javitri
  • 2 green Cardamom
  • 4~5 Cloves
  • Small piece of Cinnamon
  • Dry red chilies
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • Finely chopped Onion
  • 1 chopped Tomato
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Water
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala (Optional)

Instructions

  • Take chicken in a bowl and wash it really well.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, salt, lemon juice and mix well.
  • Cover and rest the chicken for at least 30 minutes.
  • Heat up a pan on medium heat.
  • Add cumin seeds, black peppercorns, javitri, green cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, dry red chilies and roast them a little.
  • Do not roast until these changes their color.
  • Roast until the spices begin to release nice aroma on medium heat or for about 3-4 minutes.
  • Transfer the roasted masalas into a blender jar and blend into a fine powder.
  • Masala for Tawa chicken is ready.
  • Heat up oil in a pan.
  • Add marinated chicken and fry it for about 4-5 minutes or until chicken gets transparent white color.
  • Add finely chopped onion, tomato, and mix well.
  • Fry for another 5-7 minutes.
  • After about 5 minutes add fresh masala, salt and mix well.
  • Add water and mix well. 
  • Cook the chicken until it looks nice and soft.
  • After cooking the chicken on medium heat for another 8-10 minutes, check if it is cooked.
  • Add garam masala and cook for just about a minute.
  • Adding garam masala is optional. You can skip it if you don’t want.
  • Tawa chicken is already.
  • Add coriander leaves and mix well.
  • It goes well with chapatti, fulka, naan, or paratha.
  • You also can serve as a side dish with rice.
